Filmed at Waterford Regional Airport in Ireland, all artificial lights at and around the airport were turned off and a plane was positioned in a direction designed to catch the progressing morning light, but excluding the sun itself. Through the real-time recording of the slowly advancing morning light, the viewer is confronted with a challenging durational experience. Camera, artist and viewer become observers. The subject, a commercially active ATR-42 airplane recently returned from London, becomes a barometer for the slow advancing light. The reduction created through minimal visual representation allows the viewer to enter an abnormal temporal relationship with the subject, creating both a tension and a shared experience.
